Walk Safely to School Day

Friday 18 May is Walk Safely To School Day. Walk, ride, scooter or skate safely to school.
With our parking getting ever more difficult around school, and traffic building each year, we encourage as many students as possible to do this every day!
This year Council is encouraging students to buddy up with a friend or neighbour and walk to school together. Families who live far from school can still participate. Just park the car a kilometre away and walk, scoot or skate the rest of the way.
Ms Sands and Mr Foxover will meet groups wishing to walk together at 8.00 a.m.
  • Ms Sands will be at Coles.
  • Mr Foxover will be at the duckpond.
It's much more fun than driving. Register
Sunshine Coast Council is offering great prizes when you register for Walk Safely to School Day including helmets, scooters and junior fitness watches.

Register your children for Walk Safely to School Day at Council’s website before 5 PM on Friday 18 May or follow this link Register

Children must walk, scoot or skate to school to be eligible.

We encourage our students to use active travel to get to and from school because:
•    children arrive at school feeling more alert and ready to learn
•    active travel helps students to achieve their recommended 60 minutes of daily physical activity, and
•    fewer cars on our local streets improves road safety and congestion around our school.
We would love to see our students continue walking to school throughout the year.
