The Library Leaders have each given up 2 breaks a week to work in the Resource Centre, helping students in the RRZ zone or training Junior monitors. They have also been involved in choosing an author to visit our school in Term 3, as part of our Book Week celebrations.

As well as Jane Catterall who coordinates Book Club and Mel Florence, another teacher-aide who helps us whenever she can, there are another 7 volunteers who generously spend whole days in the library, shelving, covering, accessioning new resources, labelling, managing the loans desk and many other tasks. The Resource Centre wouldn’t function without their assistance. So a huge thank you to Helen Logan, Anne Farmer, Hazel Prosser, Mary Delgado, Anne Pope, Veronica Hawkins and Maree Harte for your hard work this term.

Library Loans

Preps may only borrow 1 Junior Fiction or Junior Non-Fiction book per week. To make it easy to remember, all other students may borrow the same number of resources as their Year level e.g. Year 1 – 1, Year 2 – 2, Year 3 – 3 and so on.

Please help your children to remember to return their library books on time. At the end of term, we contact parents whose children have well-overdue books. Students are reminded during their library lesson and then if the book/s are still overdue after a month, Meryl will phone you. This is followed by an email and finally a letter from me. This is all time-consuming so please help us to ensure this doesn’t happen too often.

Caring for Library Resources and Library Bags

Please ensure that your son or daughter (especially in Years Prep to 3) have a library bag. Those sold at the Uniform Shop are waterproof. If students don’t have bags, we ask that the library books stay in their classroom until they bring a bag to take them home. This is very important in wet weather.

RRZ  and Monitors’ Clubs

RRZ or the Resource Research Zone where students are enjoying inventing and constructing, making movies, creating characters out of play dough and using pool noodles to make the longest marble run possible.
