When teaching Travel Safe skills it is important to remember the following general safety advice:
Recognise: What's happening around you? Are you safe?
React: What can you do if the situation is not safe?
Report: Tell an adult at home or school if something is not ok or you don't feel safe.
We encourage students to:
* travel in groups or with an adult
*get home in a timely manner, avoiding stopping along the way unless it is agreed upon and discussed
* not accept a lift when this hasn't been prearranged with your family.
If you do see something suspicious try and remember or record as many identifying details as possible to pass onto the police. These could include:
* vehicle registration plate number
* make and/or model of car
* identifying features of the people.
The traffic branch are currently active in our community. Therefore if you have any information or concerns please report these to the local police. Along with these actions frequent reminders and upskilling our young is so very important.
