The Department of Education (DoE) is behind the representative school sport program (the program). It exists to provide students who exhibit athletic aptitude and talent with opportunities to compete at the representative level in sport. The program gives the opportunity for eligible students to represent their school, district, region and state in an elite representative sporting competitions. It provides these opportunities in a safe, inclusive, supported environment.
Representative School Sport allows students enrolled in affiliated schools to foster connections with their own school, other schools and the broader community. Sunshine Coast School Sport, a Queensland Representative School Sport regional sub-committee, administers the program geographically from Noosa to Redcliffe. This program is not part of the compulsory school curriculum. It is a user pays extra-curricular activity. Peregian Springs State School students are allowed to wear their representative shirts (Noosa District, Sunshine Coast and Queensland) each Friday with pride to celebrate their accomplishments.
