End of year

As announced by the Premier on Sunday 9 January, the start of the 2022 school year in Queensland will move from 24 January to 7 February to avoid opening schools during the predicted peak of the Omicron wave and allow more time for children to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations.

Our school will remain open for children of essential workers and vulnerable children during this period.

Essential workers are only those who absolutely must continue to attend their workplace during this time. The Department of Education has asked all parents to consider the Chief Health Officer's advice and stay home with your children if you can.

If you need to send your child to school you must ensure your child is well and not displaying any signs of illness.

(Children of essential workers)
Teachers will be rostered on to supervise attending children during this time. This teacher may not be their regular teacher and children will most likely not be in their regular classroom. Arrangements for how we manage this situation will be made each morning when we know how many children we have at school.

Children will need an exercise book and a pencil case of writing implements and colours. They will not need to bring iPads or any other technology with them.

Please do not bring your child's book list packs until you hear from your child's teacher.

Children will need to be in full school uniform and bring their lunch, snacks and a water bottle. At the beginning of each day at 8.50 am children will need to gather in the covered games area for their year level so we can plan staffing and play areas.
COVID-19

We continue to take advice from Queensland Health and the Queensland Government in relation to novel coronavirus COVID-19. The latest information is available on the Queensland Health website at www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19

We encourage you to keep an eye on your email inbox and also our website and Facebook page.

Does your child require medication during school hours in 2022?

Please ensure you complete and sign an Administration of medication record sheet available from the school office.

You need to provide the school with the prescription-labelled medication in the original packaging with clear directions for its use. The school may request an accompanying doctor's letter for some medications.

For more information visit the Department of Education and Training website.

Volunteering.

Parents and caregivers must be double vaccinated if they are volunteering in the classroom or anywhere else in the school. The QLD Check In app is to be used and teachers or the supervising staff member will ask to see your vaccination certificate.
