NAPLAN 2021

Between Tuesday 11 May and Monday 17 May, all Year 3 & Year 5 students will sit NAPLAN online.

All Year 3 students will undertake online assessments for reading, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy, and will complete a paper-based writing test.   All Year 5 students will undertake all four NAPLAN tests online. 

Both year levels will be accessing the Lock Down Browser on their own or school based iPads. 

Please ensure your child's electronic device is ready for next Wednesday by 

• having the NAP app installed on their iPad
• checking your child has working headphones 
  
  At Peregian Springs State School, our teachers are currently ensuring that students are familiar with the test formats and are providing appropriate support and guidance where necessary.  Each class has worked through sessions focusing on these digital tools.  This means experimenting with the different tools and functions in the Lock Down Browser on iPads, as well as experimenting through a range of response options such as drag and drop answers, multiple choice answers, sequencing answers etc.  If families would like the opportunity to view the NAPLAN Online platform, access is through public demonstration site.
  
  Adjustments can be provided for students with disability to enable access to the tests on the same basis as students without disability. NAPLAN tests are constructed to give students an opportunity to demonstrate skills they have learned over time through the school curriculum, and NAPLAN test days should be treated as just another routine event on the school calendar. Excessive preparation is not useful and can lead to unnecessary anxiety. The best way you can help your child prepare for NAPLAN is to reassure them that NAPLAN tests are just one part of their school program, and to urge them to simply do the best they can on the day.
